The Products You Need In Your Collection To Create A Sultry Smokey Eye

We all know that beauty trends come and go. Sometimes they come back while some never return – often for good reason! From winged eyeliner to graphic looks, there are many ways to wear your eye make-up. But one technique that has been around since as far back as the 1920s – and has never gone out of style – is the classic smokey eye.

Early versions of this look were created by movie stars using a mixture of soot and petroleum jelly. Fortunately, these days we have eyeshadows and eyeliner that blend seamlessly, last for hours and feel comfortable on the skin.

Do you want to make this look a regular feature in your beauty routine? Then you need these make-up must-haves in your collection, whether you want to keep it basic-but-beautiful black or add some colour.

Keep it original…

The classic way to wear this popular look is by blending black. By smoking it out and adding a touch of white, you create different tones of grey. It can be done to varying degrees of intensity based on how much black you add and whether you want to add some to your lower lash line. The darker it is, the more gothic and grungy it’ll be. By taking a less heavy-handed approach, it can have an elegant and understated finish.

Or add some colour…

Smokey-eye make-up has become a technique more than a colour palette. This means that you aren’t limited to black and white for this look – it can be created in any shade. Undoubtedly, the most popular hue after tones of grey is brown – a colour that is currently trending and suits almost every skin tone.  Other colours which can complement the shade of your eyes include green, purple and blue. Feel free to experiment with your favourite shades – the possibilities are endless!
