Ingestible Skincare: Your Guide to Dose & Co Collagen

Dose & Co Collagen

Step aside, green juice, Dose & Co. Collagen is the skincare you can drink.

We know that we should be flushing our systems by drinking lots of water and keeping the caffeine, alcohol and sugary drinks to a minimum, but what about taking a supplement that replenishes all the plushness your skin is losing as you age? Are you ready to enjoy it in food too?

Backed by science

Recent studies, in which participants consumed collagen supplements, regularly reported successful anti-ageing benefits – reduced fine lines and wrinkles, fewer crow’s feet and increased skin elasticity. Collagen has also been found to help with exercise recovery and joint stiffness. Did you know? After the age of 40, our bodies lose about one percent of collagen a year.

What’s the buzz?

Collagen is super popular right now – so popular, in fact, that the industry is supposed to be worth $16.7 billion by 2028, according to US market research company Grand View Research. Its rise to fame is mostly thanks to its anti-ageing skin benefits. And while research in this field has been sparse, science is now supporting this boom.

Here’s why it works

Collagen, in a nutshell, is your body’s natural protein glue, responsible for healthy joints and skin elasticity, or stretchiness. It’s in your bones, muscles and blood. It comprises three quarters of your skin and a third of the protein in your body. As you age, your existing collagen breaks down and it gets harder for your body to produce more. So, what to do? The wellness community will tell you to take a supplement to improve skin health and strengthen hair and nails.

Thanks, but I’d rather eat it

Khloé Kardashian has teamed up with Dose & Co. Collagen and shared her favourite recipes using collagen powder. We love that we can eat our collagen and what we love about this recipe is that it’s stacking up the beauty benefits one pancake at a time.
