Our feet are only just starting to emerge from closed shoes and woolly socks after a long, cold winter. This means that we have probably been neglecting them (with *disastrous* results!).
Look familiar? If so, here’s how to get your feet ready for the warm weather and sandal season and keep them that way all season long.
Exfoliate
We should be exfoliating the skin on our faces and bodies a couple of times a week. This removes dead skin to keep your complexion smooth. The same applies to our feet, which are even more prone to dryness and flaking. You can use a pumice stone to slough off dead skin, but this can be abrasive. Instead, use a physical or chemical exfoliant.
Moisturise
Something else that is crucial on the quest for fabulous feet is to keep them well-moisturised. This should be done every day and not only when you have exfoliated them. It will give them some much-needed nourishment and prevent skin from becoming dry and flakey. Opt for a foot balm or reach for a body balm or rich moisturiser.
Treat
Sometimes, exfoliation and moisturiser just won’t cut it. When our feet are in rough shape – literally! – it might be time to call in the big guns. There are different treatment masks available that provide deep nourishment and can help to restore them. These are slipped on like booties and you wear them for a few minutes so they can work their magic.
Colour
Once your skin is smooth and soft, it’s time to clean up your nails. They should be clean and trimmed. Then, you can choose a nail varnish to wear to add a pop of colour. For a your-nails-but-better look, you can apply a neutral shade that looks clean and polished. Alternatively, you can experiment with some of this season’s most popular shades.
