How To Elevate Your Bath From Basic To Bougie

There are few things in life more relaxing than a long bubble bath. They can also be a great way to practise self-care by taking time out to treat your body (and mind).

With a few adjustments, any bath can be elevated from basic to bougie. Here’s how to make your bathtime more of a spa-like experience. You deserve it!

1. Dim the lights

Lighting plays a key factor when it comes to setting the mood. Instead of having the big overhead light on (especially if it’s very bright – no thanks!), replace it with candles instead. Bonus points if they’re scented.

2. Create a playlist

Tapping into all the senses while you are bathing can elevate the experience to help you unwind. Before slipping into the tub, pick a relaxing playlist to listen to, whether you prefer nature sounds or chill beats.

3. Add some oil

Leave bath salts back in the 80s where they belong! Instead, opt for a luxurious oil. These will add moisture to your skin so it feels soft, as well as a fine fragrance, which will also fill the room with amazing aromas.

4. Add some foam

Adding some bubbles to your bathing experience definitely amps up the luxury. Make your “home spa” smell even more divine by using a scented bubble bath, but be selective about quality so that the formula doesn’t dry out your skin.

5. Exfoliate your skin

It’s important to exfoliate your skin regularly to keep it smooth and give it a healthy glow. You can do this when you are having your bath by using a loofah or, for a more sensory experience, a bougie body scrub.

6. Moisturise immediately

Finish it off with some moisturiser! The best time to apply it is while your skin is still damp from your bath. If you wait too long, all the water from your skin will evaporate, leaving nothing for it to seal in.
