These Hacks Will Help You Master The “No-Make-Up” Make-Up Look

There’s a time and a place for a full face of dramatic make-up. Most of the time, though, people gravitate towards something more natural. Something that accentuates features without being too obvious. Enter “no-make-up” make-up: a barely there look that’s polished and pretty and suitable for everyday wear.

However, it’s not always easy to apply make-up that isn’t visible and instead looks like you at your most radiant, so here are five hacks to help you achieve it.

HACK #1 / Prioritise your skincare

To pull off this look, it’s important to look after your skin. This means having a dedicated morning and evening skincare routine. You should be wearing sunscreen daily to prevent hyperpigmentation and keep your complexion even. Masking once or twice a week can help to tackle any concerns.

HACK #2 / Prime your face perfect

No one has a completely texture-free complexion, but you can easily fake one by using a primer. They also help to conceal pores. Some of them contain ingredients to give your skin a moisture boost or keep it matte. Others contain illuminating particles to give you a gorgeous glow.

HACK #3 / Opt for light coverage

For this look, it’s out with full, matte coverage and in with lightweight, dewy formulas. Liquid and cream formulas are the best and you can even use BB or CC creams instead. You can even skip the foundation altogether and just touch up problem areas with strategic, well-blended concealer.

HACK #4 / Go easy on eyes and brows

Just because your face beat is minimal doesn’t mean brows should be left unruly! But bold Instagram brows aren’t appropriate either. Groom yours neatly and set with a clear gel. Your eye make-up colour palette should also be less dramatic and more natural, so switch blacks for browns or greys.

HACK #5 / Amp up your natural flush

Just like with your foundation, the best blush formula to use for this look is a liquid or cream one to prevent an ashy finish. Don’t just apply it to the apples of your cheeks, also extend it upwards towards your temples, as this mimics rosy cheeks more accurately.
