Our hands work hard for us. That, combined with always being exposed and in contact with things, means that they can be the first part of our bodies to show signs of ageing. We should give them as much TLC as we do the skin on our faces, which requires more than just going for the odd manicure! If you want your hands to defy your age, it’s time for some special care and carefully considered nail colour to become a priority.
Use a mask
It’s not just our faces that can benefit from regular masking. There are now several hand masks available that contain a concentrated dose of nourishing and hydrating ingredients to restore your paws. For a real self-care sesh, you can give them a scrub first with a regular body exfoliator to get rid of any dry, flaky skin. Then you can use your hand mask and let it work its magic.

Keep them moisturised
The reason that these body parts are so prone to signs of ageing is that they spend almost all their time exposed to the elements. In summer, the main culprit is the sun which can cause discolouration and fine lines – not to mention skin cancer. Make sure you apply SPF regularly. Frequent hand washing can also make your skin dry and chapped, so apply a rich moisturiser afterwards.

Consider your colour
How you look after your skin is obviously the number one way to keep it looking soft and youthful. There are, however, also some make-up hacks that can take off the years. When it comes to your hands, your nail polish colour matters! In fact, the best shade to look younger is an orange-toned red. This is because it neutralises the blue-ish purple veins, which can be prominent.
