5 Clever Ways To Save Money When Buying Cologne

There’s nothing quite like investing in a new designer cologne, but, let’s face it, it’s not cheap. It is, however, a smart investment that won’t go unnoticed. Not to mention, it’s actually one of the most cost-effective ways to own something from a designer brand.

But the reality is, with rising inflation and practically everything increasing in price, fragrances are generally one of the first items we forsake in an attempt to save money. But we don’t want you to miss out on smelling your best. The good news is that there are a few creative ways you can save money when buying a new cologne. Here’s how…

Tip 1: Always invest in bigger bottles

While you might assume that this won’t save you money, you are so wrong, my guy. If you buy a bigger bottle (100ml, 200ml), you will most likely have the fragrance for a longer period of time and the price difference between a 50ml and 100ml will only cost you a few rands more. Sometimes you have to spend money to save money.

Tip 2: Check the label

On every bottle, you’ll usually see a label that says “eau de toilette” or “eau de parfum”. While most guys ignore these words, they can actually save you money. That’s because these labels indicate how much perfume oil is inside the fragrance. For example, an eau de parfum (EDP) is a fragrance with a higher concentration of oils (15 to 40 percent) than an eau de toilette, making it more intense. This ensures that the scent will last for around eight hours. There’s no need to reapply an EDP regularly, meaning more bang for your buck.

Tip 3: Hunt for gift sets

Buying designer gift sets is also another cost-effective way to stock up on your favourite fragrances. Bonus: you could even bag yourself or your partner an extra gift! Before buying solo colognes, shop around for gift sets and compare the pricing. You might be able to receive a complimentary travel-sized scent and body lotion for the same price or even less.

Tip 4: Apply at the right time

Timing is important if you want to make your scent last throughout the day. Experts say that the best time to apply a scent is right after a shower. After showering, your pores will be open and will soak up the fragrance better. So by applying at the right time on your pulse points, the scent will last longer, and limit reapplying. Therefore, ultimately saving you money.

Tip 5: Store your fragrance correctly

According to experts, fragrances retain their integrity the longest when stored in cool, dry places away from direct sunlight. As a result, properly preserving your cologne will guarantee that it lasts as long as possible. A dark cabinet may also suffice. That way, the scent stays strong and lasting on your skin.
