How To Give Yourself A Spa-Level Home Facial

If only facials were free and we could have them ALL the time. Sadly, they’re not, but it is possible to give yourself a home facial from your very own bathroom that’s almost as good as the real thing.

Here’s how to recreate this relaxing facial treatment at home – cucumber slices optional!

Step #1: Create a spa-like environment

Going for a facial isn’t just about the treatment itself, but the Zen environment you receive it in, too. If your bathroom is a bit blah, set the mood by lighting some scented candles for some aromatherapy magic. You can also create a playlist of soothing tracks to play during your session.

Step #2: Cleanse and steam your face

Every facial starts with a thorough cleanse. You don’t, however, want to use a harsh cleanser that leaves your face feeling stripped and tight. Use a gentle one instead – an oil or milk cleanser is a good pick. Once you’re done, carefully hold your face over a container of hot water to steam your skin.

Step #3: Gently exfoliate your skin

After a steam, your skin will be softer and your pores open. This is why you should follow this step with exfoliating gently with a facial scrub, as this will dislodge any impurities and blackheads so that you can wash them down the drain. It will also help to smooth your skin’s texture.

Step #4: Apply a treatment mask

Once you wash off your scrub, it’s time to use a mask to treat any concerns you might be experiencing. There’s a face mask for *literally* any problem, ranging from dullness to hyperpigmentation, acne, dryness, sensitivity and uneven tone.

Step #5: Rub in a serum or facial oil

The final step in your facial is to add moisture back to your skin. Do this by using a nourishing serum or oil. Make the experience more luxurious by massaging it in with a facial roller or gua sha board. Got more day ahead of you? Don’t forget to apply some SPF to protect your cleansed complexion.
