Do you have travel plans over the holidays? Fun times! Whether you are hitting the road or catching a flight, the journey can take its toll on your skin. But not if you have these essentials in your travel bag!
Sunscreen
The warm weather is here and, if you are going on holiday, chances are you’ll be spending more time outdoors. We should be wearing sunscreen 365 days a year, but it is even more important in summer, when you are going to be outside more, to protect your skin from UV damage.
Lip balm
Going somewhere by plane with notoriously dry air circulating in the cabins? Or taking a road trip with the AC on blast? These can make your lips feel dry and flakey in no time. Prevent this by applying a generous layer of balm to your lips before, during and after your travels.
Eye mask
Holidays are often a combination of early mornings to catch flights or hit the road and late nights from socialising. This can lead to tired-looking eyes with bags and dark circles. A cold compress works, but an eye mask that contains ingredients to brighten and depuff your skin works better!
Face mist
As mentioned, aeroplane cabins and air conditioning both suck the moisture from your skin, leaving it feeling parched. A hydrating facial mist is easy to take and use on the go and gives your skin a refreshing burst of much-needed hydration while also giving your complexion a gorgeous glow.
Face mask
Masking occasionally is a great way to deliver a concentrated dose of ingredients to your skin to combat any concerns or soothe it. A hydrating cream mask can also be applied over your moisturiser the same way you would a lotion to give your skin extra protection from a dehydrating environment.
Hand cream
We wash our hands more than any other area of our body. This means that we are constantly stripping them of the naturally occurring oils necessary to keep this skin in good condition. As such, hand cream is a must and should be applied after every wash. Bonus points if it contains SPF!
Spot treatment
The last thing you need on holiday (or in your holiday snaps!) is a zit. If you can feel one forming, make sure you have an effective spot treatment product on hand to soothe redness and reduce inflammation. Picking it will only make it look worse and could also lead to scarring.
Face wipes
Facial wipes shouldn’t be used every day, as they can be harsh on your skin. They also are not a good long-term alternative to washing your face properly. They are, however, great to have in your carry-on because they can be used to give yourself a refresh and also clean up any mess.
